Baseball Recap: Nutley Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Nutley owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Monday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the West Orange Mountaineers. This was a revenge game for the Maroon Raiders: when they faced off against the Mountaineers back in April, they had to take a 5-1 loss.

Nutley got a great performance from Drew Slomkowski as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over 6.2 innings pitched. The Maroon Raiders are 2-1 when Slomkowski allows three or fewer hits, but 9-10 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nichoals Palumbo, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last five games.

Nutley's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-11. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for West Orange, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Looking ahead, Nutley will venture away from home to face off against Barringer at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Orange, they will welcome Morristown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
