Recap: Rosman Tigers vs. Avery County Vikings
The Rosman Tigers came tearing into Tuesday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Avery County 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Rosman has posted yet this season.
Rosman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alissa Cheek, who scored 15 points. Cheek hasn't dropped below 15points for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Marlee Carnathan, who scored 11 points.
Avery County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Maddy Barrett, who scored nine points along with six steals. Barrett is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoie Mcclarrin, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Rosman has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Avery County, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8.
Rosman will head out on the road to square off against Mountain Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Heritage knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Rosman likes a good challenge. As for Avery County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Draughn at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Draughn and Avery County are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
