Basketball Game Preview: Pittsfield Saukees vs. Beardstown Tigers

The Pittsfield Saukees just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Beardstown Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pittsfield is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

On Monday, Pittsfield came up short against North Mac and fell 49-40.

Meanwhile, Beardstown fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Seymour on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Indians 58-52. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the defeat, Beardstown saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Colby DeSollar posted 18 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave DeSollar a new career-high. Cleon Djafalo was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 11 boards.

Beardstown's loss dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Pittsfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.

Pittsfield took their win against Beardstown when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 62-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pittsfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
