Softball Recap: Wyalusing Valley Rams vs. Troy Trojans

Wyalusing Valley lost against Troy back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Wyalusing Valley Rams took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Troy Trojans. The loss continues a trend for Wyalusing Valley in their matchups with Troy: they've now lost four in a row.

Addisyn Bly was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Allie Liddick, who went 1-for-4 with a home run.

Even though they lost, Wyalusing Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Troy only hit five.

On Troy's side, Lauren Ridall made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits. Ridall was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amber James, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Kali Ayres, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Wyalusing Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Troy, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Wyalusing Valley will take on Wellsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Troy, they will head out on the road to take on Canton at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Troy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Canton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
