Softball Game Preview: Kodiak Bears vs. Houston Hawks

For the second straight game, Kodiak will face off against Houston. The Bears will welcome the Hawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Kodiak's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Houston 26-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won five in a row.

Danica Howell was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kate Holland was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kirra Gibbs, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Houston, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-1.
