Softball Recap: Stillwater Ponies vs. Irondale Knights
Stillwater won against Centennial on Friday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Ponies beat the Irondale Knights by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 4-2. The Ponies haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Natalie Stangl tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.
At the plate, Ava Volkmann was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Zrust, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Stillwater was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irondale only posted a batting average of .160.

Stillwater's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Irondale, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Stillwater will head out to face off against Woodbury at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Irondale, they will venture away from home to take on White Bear Lake at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
