Volleyball Recap: Howland Starts Season with Win on the Road

Howland had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Lakeview Bulldogs by a score of 2-0 on Saturday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Howland easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-16.

Maya Kubancsek paced Howland's offense, picking up 12 kills. Kubancsek got some help from Talia Rishel and her 18 assists. Kubancsek was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Lakeview lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Annaliese Dejulio, who had 11 digs and one assist.

Coincidentally, Howland and Lakeview will both be playing Chagrin Falls the next time they take the court. The Tigers will host the Tigers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Bulldogs will play them later in the day, at 12:00 p.m.
