Basketball Recap: Knox Takes a Loss

Knox came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They had to suffer through a 71-33 loss at the hands of the Kankakee Valley Kougars. The loss continues a trend for the Redskins in their meetings with the Kougars: they've now lost seven in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Knox lost, don't look at Riley Taylor. Despite the final result, she shot 42% from the field to rack up 16 points. That was a full 48.5% of the Redskins' points, marking the third time in a row Taylor has posted more than a third of the team's points. Maci Manns also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Leading Kankakee Valley to victory were Mallorie Rose and Camry Krueger. Rose went 6-for-15 en route to 20 points in addition to eight rebounds and seven steals, while Krueger shot 50% from the field on her way to 24 points. Those seven steals gave Rose a new career-high. Olivia Adams was another key player, going 5-for-8 to rack up 12 points and seven boards.

Knox's defeat dropped their record down to 6-14. As for Kankakee Valley, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Knox has already played their next contest, a 42-39 loss against North Judson-San Pierre on the 24th. As for Kankakee Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 39-25 win against Andrean on the 22nd.
