Football Game Preview: Mayde Creek Rams vs. Katy Tigers

Mayde Creek hasn't had much luck against Katy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Mayde Creek has given up an average of 27.7 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Mayde Creek and Seven Lakes meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Rams took a 38-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans.

Meanwhile, Katy had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.3 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Falcons as they made off with a 42-22 win. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Falcons are ranked 295th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Katy's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Mayde Creek, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Mayde Creek suffered a grim 36-15 defeat to Katy when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Tigers' Tremayne Hill, who rushed for 164 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.1 yards per carry. Now that the Rams know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
