Basketball Recap: Laila Harvey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Eastside over Greenville

Eastside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 42-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Greenville Red Raiders. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 72-43 last Friday.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Laila Harvey, who posted seven points in addition to eight rebounds and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Harvey a new career-high in blocks. Another player making a difference was Kristen McBride, who had ten points.

Ava Owens was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 25 points and 17 rebounds for Greenville. With that strong performance, Owens is now averaging an impressive 15.7 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailee Wilson-Drawhorn, who posted eight points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Eastside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Greenville, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Eastside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-17 loss against Gaffney on the 13th. As for Greenville, they will host Riverside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
