Recap: DSST: Montview Knights vs. The Pinnacle Timberwolves
The DSST: Montview Knights had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.4 points), and they went ahead and made it 13 on Monday. They really took it to The Pinnacle for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-36 win at home. DSST: Montview has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.
DSST: Montview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kamrin Joyce led the charge by scoring ten points along with nine rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tara Majok, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Despite the defeat, The Pinnacle saw an underclassman step up: Caleb Arellano scored 25 points along with six rebounds.
DSST: Montview pushed their record up to 13-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.2 points per game. As for The Pinnacle, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
DSST: Montview won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Platte Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Platte Canyon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 285th, while DSST: Montview is ranked 44th). The Pinnacle won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Englewood at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Hopefully Englewood focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday.
