Football Recap: Mendota Starts Season with Win at Home + How To Watch

Mendota took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They secured a 25-21 W over the Golden Valley Bulldogs. That's more bragging rights for the Aztecs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Mendota's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Anthony Perez, who rushed for 73 yards and one score on only eight carries. Anthony Trinidad was in the mix as well, providing the Aztecs with two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mendota was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 212 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 163 rushing yards in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mendota will venture away from home to take on Liberty at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Golden Valley, they will head out to face off against Sierra Pacific at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
