Football Recap: Independence Takes a Loss

Independence fell victim to Milpitas and their airtight defense on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 31-0 loss at the hands of the Trojans. While losing is never fun, the 76ers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 414th, while the Trojans are ranked 100th).

Milpitas' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bren David, who threw for 139 yards and four touchdowns. Aelyn Patague was another key receiver, picking up 80 receiving yards and a pair of TDs.

This is the second loss in a row for Independence and nudges their season record down to 4-3. As for Milpitas, their victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.

Independence wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-14 loss against Santa Clara on the 13th. As for Milpitas, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 39-13 win against Mountain View on the 13th.
