Basketball Recap: Leonia Lions vs. Lyndhurst Golden Bears
After flying high against Bergen Charter last Thursday, the Leonia Lions came back down to earth. Leonia took a hard 58-39 fall against the Golden Bears on Saturday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Leonia of the 64-25 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2022.
Brooke Harper continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lyndhurst, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harper has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Asya Akar, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Leonia's defeat dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Lyndhurst, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leonia will square off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lyndhurst, they will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cresskill will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
