Basketball Game Preview: Crystal City Hornets vs. Grandview Eagles

Crystal City is 1-9 against Grandview since December of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Crystal City Hornets will square off against the Grandview Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Crystal City knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Grandview likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Crystal City came up short against Oak Ridge and fell 66-59.

Crystal City's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Addison Bova, who went 11 for 21 on her way to 33 points, and Molly Reiter, who went 8 of 19 en route to 22 points. Bova's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Meanwhile, Grandview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 68-22 loss at the hands of St. Vincent. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while the Indians are ranked 30th).

Grandview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Crystal City, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-7.

Crystal City was dealt a bruising 66-31 defeat at the hands of Grandview in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Crystal City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
