Football Recap: Morton Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Morton easily dispatched Canton last Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Potters fell just short of the Metamora Redbirds by a score of 43-40 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Potters have suffered since September 27, 2024.

Jaiduan Cranford had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 204 yards and three scores on only 15 carries, while also picking up 70 receiving yards and one touchdown for Metamora. With that strong performance, Cranford is now averaging an impressive 122.5 rushing yards per game. Stephen Petri was another key player, throwing for 195 yards and a pair of TDs on only 14 passes.

Morton's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Metamora, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morton will venture away from home to challenge Pekin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Potters are facing the Dragons at the right time seeing as the Dragons are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Metamora, they are taking a road trip to take on Canton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Redbirds will be up against the Little Giants' rather soft defense (which has allowed 42 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
