Football Game Preview: Colonia Patriots vs. Edison Eagles

The Colonia Patriots will square off against the Edison Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colonia will be strutting in after a victory while Edison will be coming in after a defeat.

Colonia is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Perth Amboy to the tune of 49-18 on Friday. The Patriots have beaten the Panthers the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Panthers has come to flipping the script.

Colonia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kyle Bell, who rushed for 86 yards and a pair of TDs. Bell also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making two total tackles. Rj Wortman was another key receiver, picking up 61 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Colonia was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 221 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Colonia's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Harisimran Mann was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Mann is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Another thorn in Perth Amboy's side was Julien Jones, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made 11 total tackles.

Meanwhile, Edison was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 33-28 to Franklin.

Colonia now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Edison, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.
