Volleyball Recap: Hayden Wells and Isabella Dinya Secure Win for Holy Name

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Padua Franciscan, Holy Name was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Elyria Catholic Panthers. This was a revenge game for the Green Wave: when they faced off against the Panthers back in August, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

Holy Name walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the first set). The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 25-21, 20-25, 25-16.

Leading Holy Name to victory were Isabella Dinya and Hayden Wells. Dinya had nine digs and two aces, while Wells had 19 digs and five assists. That's the most assists Wells has posted over her last 12 contests. Allison Orzech also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ava Notarberardino, who had 18 digs and three assists. Another player making a difference was Marisa Kilgore, who had 12 digs and two aces.

Holy Name's win bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Elyria Catholic, their defeat ended a seven-match streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.

Holy Name wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy on the 23rd. As for Elyria Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-1 victory against Open Door Christian on the 22nd.
