Soccer Game Preview: Willows vs. Pierce

Willows is 0-8-2 against Pierce since February of 2019 but things could change on Thursday. The Willows Honkers will square off against the Pierce Bears at 6:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Willows is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against Colusa, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, the Honkers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 1154th, while the RedHawks are ranked 523rd).

Meanwhile, Pierce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Williams.

Pierce's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Willows, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.

Willows came up short against Pierce in their previous matchup two weeks ago, falling 3-1. Can Willows avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
