On Thursday, St. Scholastica faced Newman in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The St. Scholastica Doves narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Newman Greenies 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Doves who have now won three matchups in a row.

St. Scholastica's win bumped their record up to 12-2-5. As for Newman, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-3-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Scholastica will venture away from home to square off against St. Joseph's Academy at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. St. Joseph's Academy's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so St. Scholastica's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Newman, they will head out on the road to face off against Metairie Park Country Day at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
