Monroe strolled into their game on Saturday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their defense stepped up to hand East/World of Inquiry a 16-0 shutout. Given the Red Jackets' advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while East/World of Inquiry are ranked 99th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monroe to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jermaine Montgomery Jr, who rushed for 53 yards and one TD on only seven carries, and also picked up 40 receiving yards. The Red Jackets also got help from Messiah Hampton, who showed off his sure hands for 95 receiving yards.

Monroe's run defense was locked in: East/World of Inquiry could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Christien Franklin for the heroic effort on defense: he. Monroe didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.6.

Monroe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 70-0 win against Edison Tech on the 4th. As for East/World of Inquiry, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 34-17 victory against Honeoye Falls-Lima on the 3rd.
