Volleyball Recap: Sophia Gallegos and Sophia Gasteluiturri Secure Win for Bloomfield + How To Watch

Bloomfield hadn't done well against Gallup recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Bobcats won by a set and slipped past the Bengals 3-2. For the Bobcats, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 victory the Bengals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Bloomfield had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 22-25, 17-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-12.

Leading Bloomfield to victory were Sophia Gasteluiturri and Sophia Gallegos. Gasteluiturri had four aces and three digs, while Gallegos had 16 kills and two aces. That's the most digs Gasteluiturri has posted since back in September. Devyn Dahozy also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Bloomfield was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. They are 6-1 when they serve at least ten aces.

Bloomfield's win bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Gallup, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Bloomfield is set to take on their familiar foe Miyamura at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Gallup will face off against rival Shiprock at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
