Football Recap: PURE Academy Comes Up Short

The PURE Academy Athletes took a blow against the DeSoto Central Jaguars on Friday, falling 56-7. The game marked the Athletes' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leading DeSoto Central to victory were Cade Rodgers and Eric Perry. Rodgers rushed for 205 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, while Perry rushed for 85 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries. What's more, Perry racked up 129.2 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Wilbourn, who rushed for 77 yards and one score.

PURE Academy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for DeSoto Central, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Coming up, PURE Academy will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Christian Brothers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Athletes are facing the Purple Wave at the right time seeing as the Purple Wave are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for DeSoto Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charleston at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
