Baseball Recap: Cushing's Losing Streak Snapped at Seven Games

Cushing can bid farewell to their seven-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Carlisle Indians. That's more bragging rights for the Bearkats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Hunter Gordon and Eli Dawson made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Gordon pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Dawson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Gordon scored a run and stole two bases, while Dawson scored a run while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gatlin Anthony, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Another was Stephen Tamez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

The victory got Cushing back to even at 1-1. As for Carlisle, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season.

Cushing will take on Frankston at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Carlisle, they will welcome Winona at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The last four games Carlisle has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
