On Tuesday, the Athens Golden Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Decatur Red Raiders. That's two games straight that the Golden Eagles have won by just one goal.

Athens has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 44 goals over those eight contests. Decatur's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4-1.

Looking ahead, Athens will be taking part in a tournament against St. Luke's Episcopal at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. St. Luke's Episcopal will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Athens surely won't give up without a fight. As for Decatur, they will square off against Westminster Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Westminster Christian Academy's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three games.
