Recap: Sissonville Indians vs. Wayne Pioneers
This season hasn't been kind to The Sissonville Indians, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They were beaten by Wayne 49-7 on Friday. Sissonville lost against Wayne in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 46-36 score last time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Wayne to victory, but perhaps none more so than Fisher Fry, who threw for 173 yards and four touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Mathis, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
Sissonville's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.3 points per game. As for Wayne, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season.
Sissonville will head out on the road to face off against Nitro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nitro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Sissonville likes a good challenge. As for Wayne, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Logan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Logan is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
