Basketball Recap: Winchester Community Takes a Loss

Winchester Community won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They took a blow against the Northeastern Knights, falling 59-30. While losing is never fun, the Golden Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Knights are ranked 42nd).

Northeastern's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Mikesell, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 11 points in addition to eight assists and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Adysson Kircher, who posted 16 points and three steals.

Winchester Community's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-9. As for Northeastern, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-1.

Winchester Community does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northeastern, they will head out on the road to square off against Cambridge City Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
