Basketball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Jordan Christian Prep's Winning Streak

After flying high against Kathleen last Tuesday, Jordan Christian Prep came back down to earth. The match between the Jordan Christian Prep Seahawks and the Cypress Bay Lightning didn't end well, with the Jordan Christian Prep Seahawks falling 63-46. The Seahawks' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Cypress Bay was led to victory by Agam Gago and Sofia Gonano. Gago went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points and seven steals, while Gonano went 8 for 19 on her way to 19 points. That's the most points Gonano has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevia Miletti, who posted ten points.

Jordan Christian Prep's loss dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Cypress Bay, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

Jordan Christian Prep and Cypress Bay could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Jordan Christian Prep (ranked 81st) will meet Palm Bay (ranked 12th) at 12:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Cypress Bay (ranked 87th) will meet Central Pointe Christian Academy National (ranked second) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
