Baseball Game Preview: West Chicago Wildcats vs. Larkin Royals

The West Chicago Wildcats will venture away from home to take on the Larkin Royals at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.

West Chicago came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-0 to Glenbard West.

Meanwhile, Larkin made easy work of Aurora East on Tuesday and carried off a 15-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Royals in their matchups with the Tomcats: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Miguel Saavedra, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Jameson Cunningham was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Larkin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Larkin's record now sits at 4-23. As for West Chicago, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season.

West Chicago couldn't quite get it done against Larkin in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-4. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
