Recap: Dixie Flyers vs. Crimson Cliffs Mustangs

Even though the Crimson Cliffs Mustangs scored an imposing 59 points on Wednesday, the Dixie Flyers still came out on top. Dixie strolled past Crimson Cliffs with points to spare, taking the game 75-59. Given Dixie's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Crimson Cliffs is ranked 34th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dixie was led to victory by Jordan Roberts and Breckon Robinson. Roberts dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 assists, while Robinson scored 24 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Robinson continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Kyle Lemke was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with eight rebounds.

Sean Felts and McKay Lindquist certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Felts scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Lindquist scored 17 points. Felts scored a full 28.8% of Crimson Cliffs' points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Trevor Taylor, who scored eight points.

Even though they lost, Crimson Cliffs were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixie only racked up 23 assists.

Dixie's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Crimson Cliffs, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

Dixie's road trip will continue as they head out to face Etiwanda at 5:00 p.m. on December 27, 2023. Etiwanda knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Dixie likes a good challenge. Crimson Cliffs will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Snow Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Snow Canyon will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
