Baseball Recap: Nickerson Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hillsboro, Nickerson was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Smoky Valley Vikings. The high-scoring effort was just what the Panthers needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Nickerson's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-18. As for Smoky Valley, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-14.

Looking ahead, Smoky Valley will welcome Hoisington at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cardinals have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. Nickerson will be paying especially close attention to Smoky Valley's contest: after Smoky Valley faces off against Southeast of Saline, they'll take on Nickerson again on Monday.
