The Sheridan Blackhawks are taking a road trip to take on the Tri-Central Trojans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sheridan will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
Sheridan not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 13, 2024 (when they won 25-10). They put the hurt on Herron with a sharp 17-9 win. With that victory, the Blackhawks brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Norah Adams was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 5-for-5 with four stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Ali Pickard was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Lainey Mendenhall was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Sheridan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .541. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Tri-Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They fell 6-2 to Clinton Central.
Emily Maruszewski was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Perez, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Sheridan's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Tri-Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.
Tri-Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sheridan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Tri-Central, though, as they've been averaging 12.1 hits. Given Sheridan's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Sheridan might still be hurting after the 10-1 loss they got from Tri-Central when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Blackhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
