Basketball Recap: Camereon Cartlidge Key Part of a Team Effort in Wolfpack Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Walkertown ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top against the Morehead Panthers by a score of 73-60. That's more bragging rights for the Wolfpack, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Walkertown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camereon Cartlidge, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Those 21 points gave Cartlidge a new career-high. Kenan Grady was another key player, going 7 for 10 to rack up 19 points.

Morehead's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Josiah Thomas, who went 9 of 13 en route to 24 points and three blocks, and Avery Bigelow, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Thomas' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cavin Corum, who posted eight points.

Walkertown is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.6 points over those games. As for Morehead, their record is now 10-12.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walkertown will face off against T.W. Andrews at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. T.W. Andrews has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with three straight losses, while Walkertown will come in with three straight victories. As for Morehead, they will take on Reidsville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Reidsville's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
