Softball Recap: Hutsonville/Palestine Wins Going Away Against Lawrenceville

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Hutsonville/Palestine ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Lawrenceville Indians as they made off with a 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Hayden Monan spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Hutsonville/Palestine let Ayla Cook and Lily Holcomb run wild. Cook earned two RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Holcomb went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Cook has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of KK Jordan, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Hutsonville/Palestine is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.6 runs. As for Lawrenceville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season.

Hutsonville/Palestine didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-7 defeat against Dieterich on the 17th. As for Lawrenceville, they have also already played their next contest, a 12-10 victory against South Knox on the 16th.
