Independence is 8-2 against East Mecklenburg since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Independence has given up an average of 2.9 goals per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Independence fell victim to Sun Valley and their airtight defense on Monday. They came up short against the Spartans, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 270th, while Sun Valley are ranked 75th).

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three match, East Mecklenburg brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They blew past Rocky River 11-0 on Tuesday. The contest marked East Mecklenburg's most dominant victory of the season.

Independence dropped their record down to 4-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for East Mecklenburg, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Independence couldn't quite get it done against East Mecklenburg in their previous matchup back in March as they fell 4-2. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
