Maryland School for the Deaf typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Middletown proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged out the Orioles 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Knights, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Middletown had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 13-25, 22-25, 25-23, 26-24, 15-11.
Despite the loss, Maryland School for the Deaf saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rita Virnig had 14 digs and one assist.
