Softball Recap: University Red Devils vs. Urban Blues

University stacked a tenth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They never let the Urban Blues onto the board and left with a 26-0 victory. University's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Juliette Cuthbert made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. Cuthbert has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts every time she's pitched this season. Cuthbert was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, University got a massive performance out of Caroline Miller, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with six RBI, three runs, and a stolen base. Miller has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Caroline Cuthbert was another key contributor, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for University and bumps their season record up to 14-4. As for Urban, they haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.

University will head out on the road to face off against Lick-Wilmerding at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. University's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Lick-Wilmerding's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Urban, they will head out on the road to challenge The Bay School at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
