Softball Recap: Gresham Has No Trouble Against Molalla

Gresham entered their tilt with Molalla on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Indians 19-1. That looming 19-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Gophers yet this season.

Keira Downing made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Downing was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Those hits marked the first that she got this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on La Terra Foster-Frison, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Gaffeny, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Gresham lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Molalla didn't launched any home runs.

Gresham now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Molalla, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gresham will host Roseburg at 2:00 p.m. on April 3. As for Molalla, they will be playing at home against Valley Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
