Harlandale is 9-1 against Southwest Legacy since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Indians will challenge the Titans at 6:00 p.m. Southwest Legacy took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Harlandale, who comes in off a win.
Harlandale not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 8, 2024 (when they won 3-0). Everything went their way against Winn as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.
While Harlandale won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-23.
Harlandale's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Cristine Flores, who had nine digs and three aces, and Giana Lopez, who had four digs and four aces. That's the most aces Lopez has posted over her last seven matchups.
They weren't the only good servers: Harlandale was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Southwest Legacy lost 3-0 to MacArthur on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Titans in their meetings with the Brahmas: they've now lost three in a row.
Southwest Legacy was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made MacArthur work for it, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-17, 27-25, 25-14.
Harlandale's victory bumped their record up to 15-16. As for Southwest Legacy, their loss dropped their record down to 18-13.
Harlandale beat Southwest Legacy 3-1 in their previous matchup back in September. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
