Recap: Omaha Central Eagles vs. Lincoln High Links
The Omaha Central Eagles put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Lincoln High with points to spare, taking the game 58-43. Given Omaha Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while Lincoln High is ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Omaha Central to victory were Inia Jones and Lilliana Petersen. Jones scored 15 points along with seven assists, while Petersen scored 19 points along with six rebounds. That makes it five consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least 25% of Omaha Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justine Tcheuhchoua, who scored nine points.
Lincoln High's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ayana Owens, who scored 18 points, and Aniyah Hicks-robinson who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Owens scored 15 or more points.
Omaha Central's win bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Lincoln High, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Omaha Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bryan at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th. Bryan comes in on a streak of failing to score more than ten points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Lincoln High, they will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln East at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Lincoln East is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
