Basketball Recap: Vista Ridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Quentin Monck and Josiah Johnson

Vista Ridge lost against Liberty back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Vista Ridge Wolves lost 71-51 to the Liberty Lancers. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Lancers are ranked 47th).

Vista Ridge's loss came despite strong showings from Josiah Johnson and Quentin Monck. Johnson went 5 of 12 en route to 14 points, while Monck posted nine points. That's the most points Johnson has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Zay Thurman, who put up eight points and five assists.

London Praytor was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 18 rebounds for Liberty. Praytor's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Akai Council, who went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points.

Vista Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Liberty, they pushed their record up to 10-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Vista Ridge didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-62 loss against Pueblo West on the 25th. As for Liberty, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 56-39 defeat against Doherty on the 29th.
