Byron hadn't done well against Genoa-Kingston recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Tigers had just enough and edged out the Cogs 2-1. For the Tigers, this counts as revenge for the 2-0 win the Cogs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

If you add up the scores from across all three sets (69-64) Byron actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 14-25, 25-23.

Byron's victory ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 15-10. As for Genoa-Kingston, their defeat ended a nine-match streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 22-13.

Coming up, Byron will venture away from home to face off against Wheaton Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Genoa-Kingston does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
