Thatcher is 8-2 against Safford since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Thatcher Eagles will face off against the Safford Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Thatcher was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 61-55 to Palo Verde.

Meanwhile, Safford took a blow against Sabino on Monday, falling 100-68. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Sabercats are ranked 64th).

Safford has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for Thatcher, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-10.

Thatcher came up short against Safford when the teams last played back in January of 2024, falling 67-54. Can Thatcher avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
