Baseball Game Preview: Brewer Patriots vs. Austin Black Bears

The Brewer Patriots will square off against the Austin Black Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Austin took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Brewer, who comes in off a win.

Brewer made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Pennington, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Brewer never let Pennington get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Friday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Patriots this season.

Meanwhile, Austin suffered their biggest defeat since March 7, 2024 on Friday. They lost 13-4 to Decatur. The Black Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Bryant Jones put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Parker, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Brewer's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Austin, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
