Baseball Recap: Slocum Takes a Loss

Slocum was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 9-6 to the Oakwood Panthers. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Cameron Janke and Braydon Minton stepped up to the plate in a big way. Janke scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Minton scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Creede Kessel also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Slocum's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Oakwood, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-5-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Slocum will challenge Miller Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.29 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Oakwood, they will venture away from home to face off against Non Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
