Softball Recap: Ramona Convent Comes Up Short

Ramona Convent entered their matchup against St. Monica on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Tigers fell just short of the Mariners by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mariners this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-1 back in March.

Madison Garcia spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits.

At the plate, Chloe Gonzalez was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Abigail Vazquez, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Ramona Convent's defeat dropped their record down to 13-6. As for St. Monica, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ramona Convent will venture away from home to face off against Serra at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers are facing the Cavaliers at the right time seeing as the Cavaliers are stuck on a nine-game losing streak. As for St. Monica, they will challenge Mary Star of the Sea at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
