Baseball Recap: Laurel Highlands Takes a Loss

Laurel Highlands was the 7-1 winner over Uniontown when they last played one another back in April of 2025, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell just short of the Red Raiders by a score of 6-5 on Monday.

Laurel Highlands got a good showing from Jack Johns, who struck out six batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Johns has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Noah Lion made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sevi Vecchiolla, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Laurel Highlands has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Uniontown, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.

While Laurel Highlands had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
