Baseball Game Preview: Linden Tigers vs. Dunellen Destroyers

The Linden Tigers will take on the Dunellen Destroyers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Dunellen is headed out to face a Tigers squad ready to give their home crowd a win. Linden came up short against Kennedy Memorial on Friday, falling 18-1.

Linden saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jimmy Santa Maria, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI. Jarier Santana was another, scoring a run and stealing two bases.

Meanwhile, Dunellen had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Bound Brook 12-2. The Destroyers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024.

Danny Watts made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Mark Stein was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Juanluis Rodriguez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
