Softball Recap: Mountainside Takes a Loss

Mountainside has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.67 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They came up short against the Jesuit Crusaders, falling 11-0. The Mavericks have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Mountainside's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Jesuit, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Mountainside will square off against rival Beaverton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Mavericks have won five straight at home, while the Beavers won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Jesuit is set to face off against their familiar foe Sunset at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Crusaders 3.9, the Apollos 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
