Volleyball Recap: Mapleton Mounties vs. Monroeville Eagles
Mapleton lost against Monroeville back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mounties came up short against the Eagles, falling 3-0. The Mounties have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.
While Mapleton was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-22, 25-20.
Addison Hess paced Mapleton's offense, picking up eight kills. Hess really made an impact as she also led the team in assists with 13. She was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.
Monroeville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Madyson Miller out in front who had 16 digs and two aces. Miller has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last six times she's played. Addison Homan was another key player, getting 24 digs and three aces.
Mapleton's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Monroeville, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home.
Coming up, after both having extra time off, Mapleton and Mineral Ridge will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Monroeville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 3-0 win against Carey on the 11th.
